What OgaKey is

OgaKey lists homes for rent in Kaduna and Abuja and is a record-keeping tool for managing properties, tenants, leases, rent and repairs. It is not a party to any tenancy, it is not an estate agent, and it does not hold or move money. Payments shown in OgaKey are records, entered by the Oga, of money paid elsewhere.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • Give accurate details when you register and keep your password private.
  • You are responsible for what is done through your account.
  • There are two types of account. Tenants register freely. Ogas (agents and property owners who list and manage homes) register only with a one-time access code from OgaKey. A tenant's rental is added through an invite link or code from their Oga. Do not use a link or code that was not meant for you.

If you are an Oga

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the records you enter, including rent figures, lease dates and payments.
  • Only enter personal details about tenants that you are entitled to hold, and tell them you are doing so. See the privacy policy.
  • OgaKey operates in Kaduna and Abuja (FCT) only for now, so you can add properties and listings only there.
  • Follow the tenancy law of the state where the property is, and hold any licence or registration it requires to let property. In Kaduna, the Landlord and Tenant Law 2018 requires a written tenancy agreement and a receipt for every rent payment.
  • Do not ask a tenant for more than 1 year's rent upfront. Kaduna law sets this limit, and OgaKey applies it in Abuja too.
  • Upload only photos you took yourself or have permission to use.
  • OgaKey checks each listing before it goes live, and may send a listing back, refuse it or remove it. A listing that has been approved can be changed only by sending it for approval again.
  • Renewal and overdue alerts are reminders to help you. They do not replace any notice that the law or a tenancy agreement requires you to give.

Tenant records you keep

For the tenant details you enter, you decide what is collected and why, and OgaKey processes them on your behalf. OgaKey will use them only to provide the service to you, keep them confidential and secure, limit access to the people who need it to run the service, tell you without delay of any breach that affects them, and delete them when you delete them or close your account.

Copyright

If a listing uses your photos or other content without permission, report the listing and choose "Uses my photos or content without permission", or write to us at the contact below. OgaKey removes content once it receives a valid notice, and closes the accounts of people who do this repeatedly.

Acceptable use

Do not use OgaKey to list properties you have no right to manage, to mislead tenants or Ogas, to harass anyone, or to try to access records that are not yours. Accounts used this way may be suspended or closed.

Availability

We work to keep the service running and your records safe, but it is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, such as signed agreements and bank records.

Changes and closing your account

We may update these terms as the service grows, and will change the date at the top when we do. You can stop using OgaKey at any time and ask for your account and records to be deleted.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
